KCA 2012 was an exciting project—not only did I get to design the most of the desktop experience and the voting webapp; I also got to lead design on the live webcast! And it was a record breaking year—we collected 223 million votes {up 11% from the previous year}, 2.3 million users viewed KCA content in the digital space on the day of show, and the live stream viewing of our webcast went up 17%, with 415k kids tuning in.
In addition, our efforts were honored with a gold CTAM award, and the digital experience was a HOW interactive design award honoree.
Also, the live vote I designed and helped coordinate with on-air resulted in the complete hosing of Justin Bieber with slime, which may be a career highlight. :)
Here is a sampling of my work on this event:

This was the game we designed to incentivise kids to interact with KCA content on the site & tune into the show:
The conceit was that we had hidden slime drops all over the KCA site, and as the kids collected them, their collective progress would be reflected in this meter inside the secret briefcase. As the meter filled up, prizes {exclusive content} would unlock, and slime would be "stored" up for a massive sliming on-air. Will Smith made us an awesome video briefing the kids on their mission, and several nick stars did great progress follow ups for us. It was a really fun interactive component.
