Governor's Island

A few weeks ago I went down to Governor's Island, a teeny little island off the southern tip of Manhattan accessible only by ferry that used to be an army post but is now largely public space. I've finally gotten around to editing a couple of my favorite pictures of the adventure.

I love the ornate exterior of the Manhattan ferry station

view of Manhattan from the island

wildlife!

This summer, there is a beautiful old amusement park set up down there. This was the picnic pavilion.

super nifty pedal-powered merry-go-round

pretty gondolas

swings!

awesome antique car ride. All the kids wanted to ride in the bus; clearly they have good taste.

outer edge of the island, with the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance
