Design Work: 2011 Kids' Choice Awards

I was very pleased to get to lead design on the desktop site and promotion of the 2011 KCAs—particularly because the style guide that year was super cute, and a member of the exec team at the time dubbed it the most successful digital venture in Nickelodeon's history.

That year was the year we SHATTERED the voting record—200 million votes were registered, which was a 70% increase from the year before. It also led nick.com to its best hour ever in page views—5.7 million the hour before the show aired—and its highest traffic month ever, with 20 million unique visitors.

Some of my favorite pieces from the campaign:

Nominee detial page:

Downloadable desktop wallpaper I designed/illustrated:

Part of a promo for the KCA homepage that linked out to the webcast:

One piece in a series of banner ads that appeared on nick.com leading up to the day of show:

Small promo that was part of the set that went out with the host announcement:

T-shirt iron-on that kids could print:

My favorite little piece—since the guide was inspired by Japanese packaging, and the host was Jack Black, I just had to do Jack in a Box for the graphic on the host page. The most excellent part was that after I had made the box, they had a photo shoot with Jack and he posed for my box! On-air also used the graphic during the live show.

Background skin for the nick.com homepage for the day after the show:
